Active Learning in Barabanki
via Pratham Books by noreply@blogger.com (Gautam) on July 04, 2008
Can a self-centred Bangalorean appreciate a bag of tricks in remote Barabanki? Ashok Kamath learns a trick or two...Sampurna and I landed at Lucknow’s Amausi airport at about noon – over an hour late and the delay was NOT caused by “late arrival of incoming aircraft” but because the engine did not seem to have enough power even to move. Our host in Lucknow, Dharmendra, had to wait.As we...

Adopting (and Defending) Little Brother
via Confessions of an Aca|Fan by Henry Jenkins on July 03, 2008
I don't get to read very many novels. The nature of my work means that there is always a massive pile of nonfiction for me to plow through and when I have time to relax, I tend to consume other media rather than read literary fiction (comics being the exception). But I always make time for the latest work of Cory Doctorow, who is my favorite contemporary science fiction writer. When I heard...

Google Ordered to Hand Over YouTube User Data

For example, some web sites auto-link or convert text presented in a URL format as a hyperlink to improve the user experience. The user may type in the following URL into a form.http://particletree.comOn display, our auto-linking script would then convert that...

Department of Civil Disobedience: Google Should Deliver Its YouTube Data to Viacom in Paper Form
via TechCrunch by Erick Schonfeld on July 03, 2008
The recent court order directing Google to hand over data to Viacom about every YouTube video ever watched strikes many people as an absurd overreach of the law into the privacy of anyone who has ever used YouTube (i.e., almost everyone on the Internet). Google should definitely keep fighting the ruling if it can. But if it can’t, perhaps it should comply with it in a creative way. The data...
