Get 500 of the Best Free Fonts
via gHacks technology news by Cheryl on February 03, 2008
I don’t use a lot of extra fonts on my computer. For me, the standard fonts are good enough for my needs. However, a lot of my friends are font-crazy and love to have different fonts on their computers.Fonts500 is a website that claims to have 500 of the best fonts available. The good part about this is that all of these are free for your use. An initial visit to the page displays the first 100...

Customize Your Youtube Profile
via gHacks technology news by Cheryl on January 25, 2008
Considering how many people post videos on Youtube, I’m surprised I never thought of posting about this before. While Myspace has been customized to such an extent so as to make the average Myspace profile virtually unrecognizable from its earlier format, not many people have gone ahead and done the same to their Youtube profile.Firstly, go to your profile page. Now, if you want to make any...

via gHacks technology news by Martin on February 02, 2008
For some time now I’m running several maintenance applications once a week to improve the performance, security and privacy of my computer. It usually takes less than two hours to run all of these applications and I would like to explain which programs I’m using, why I’m using them and what the benefit of using them is.Depending on your computer setup and usage you might want to run the...

Remove old Msconfig Entries
via gHacks technology news by Martin on February 27, 2008
Msconfig is a standard system tool in Windows where users can, among other things, disable startup items. It’s a great tool if you do not have any other software like Autoruns or Starter in reach that deal with startup programs more efficiently. If you use Msconfig all the time you will notice that deactivated entries will not disappear and that there is no way to delete them permanently from...

If you use Windows, chances are you get error messages with different Microsoft software from time to time. Of course, this being Windows, you don’t get a straight error message. Instead, you have something like ‘You have encountered error 11456’ or something along those lines. So, how do you figure out what the error code means. Usually, you trot off to the Microsoft site or Google, type in...

via gHacks technology news by Martin on March 17, 2008
Website owners should test their websites with the most common browsers to make sure that the website is displayed as intended in all of them. Nothing is more frustrating than to realize that a website was not displaying properly for users that have been visiting the website with a certain browser. One way to check if your websites are compatible with Internet Explorer is to use a virtual pc...

Synchronize multiple folders at once
via gHacks technology news by Martin on May 07, 2008
I have to admit that I do not need to synchronize multiple folders that often. If you do you could take a closer look at Horodruin which can synchronize as many folders as have been added to the application. Before I start I would like to point out that Horodruin is not a automatic solution unless you write your own batch file and use it to synchronize the folders using the application. The key...

Amarok is now Available for Windows
via gHacks technology news by Cheryl on May 08, 2008
In my last post about everyone’s preferred music player, I mentioned that I was dying to try out the Linux player Amarok because I’d heard great things about. There’s just one problem: I’m a Windows user.Luckily, the guys at Amarok have decided to give the Windows users a taste of what this music player is all about. The process of porting Amarok to Windows is well under way and seems to...

Official Google url Alternatives
via gHacks technology news by Martin on January 23, 2008
Did you know that Google hosts several alternate domain names on their servers that all point to the Google search engine ? Instead of accessing google.com you could use an official Google domain name like 138008.org.ru or msm.byu.edu instead to use the Google search engine. You might be wondering why someone would want to use a different domain name to search the Internet. As we all know search...
