I'm probably a few days behind on this, but The People's Mario is awesome.

geek vs. itunes
via WWdN: In Exile by wil@wilwheaton.net (Wil Wheaton) on March 11, 2008
In the spirit of Cat vs. Monkey . . . Me: iTunes, play whatever youwant on random. iTunes: Cool! Have some Isaac Hayes, followed by Yes!Me: Maybe we need to talk about this...iTunes: Hey, jerk, it was in YOUR library. Don't blame me for getting creative. Me: Let's never fight again.iTunes: Aww, I feel bad. Here, haveZeppelin, then Wilco, and now Tool. Are we cool?Me: Yeah, we're...

I do the 48-minute work thing, and I'm as swamped and panicked as I think I've ever been as I prepare for a screen test tomorrow and a convention this weekend. This is certainly the worst since I was working on my PAX keynote, but I work well when I'm terrified. During this panic, blogging falls into the "do fun stuff for 12 minutes and then GBTW" part of the hour, so please forgive...

three hours of MTV from 1983
via WWdN: In Exile by wil@wilwheaton.net (Wil Wheaton) on January 28, 2008
... or at least listen to in the background while you work. Three hours of MTV, recorded on VHS in 1983, including wonderfully cheedy commercials. I've been listening to part one for about thirty minutes, and the nostalgia is starting to overwhelm me.Part one:Part two:Generation X! Rejoice, while the damn kids today wonder why MTV is actually playing music videos.(from Appelogen via boingboing)

I have a sticker on my car that says, "There is no place like 127.0.0.1" I get to explain it to a lot of people, and I'm usually rewarded with a blank look, followed by a pitying look, followed by parents holding on tightly to their children as they move away slowly at first, then quickly, never turning their backs on me.Such is the life of a geek among normals. My pal R. Stevens, creator of...

I voted today
via WWdN: In Exile by wil@wilwheaton.net (Wil Wheaton) on February 05, 2008
I cast my vote for Barack Obama in California's primary this morning. Here's a major reason why I did:“When I am this party's nominee, my opponent will not be able to saythat I voted for the war in Iraq; or that I gave George Bush thebenefit of the doubt on Iran; or that I supported Bush-Cheney policiesof not talking to leaders that we don't like. And he will not be ableto say...

is there anyone home?

. . . yep. But my doctor says that talking on the phone, sending e-mails, posting in my blog, and spending too any time doing much more than watching TV (I'm still too drugged up to fucos -- I'm not changing the spelling on that because it's so goddamn funny -- on reading this big stack of graphic novels I bought for the recovery) raises my blood pressure dangerously high, making me...

picture start (or, wil rambles on and on about movies he's recently seen)
via WWdN: In Exile by wil@wilwheaton.net (Wil Wheaton) on February 28, 2008
My writing muscles have atrophied over the last three weeks, and they need to be warmed up so I can get back to work. Please enjoy this rambling braindump about movies which I hope will start knocking some of the cobwebs off:I watched a ton of movies in the last three weeks, including a ton of Academy screeners, provided to me by my vast underground network of Big Hollywood Super Players. My...

Saul Bass was a graphic designer who did credits for films like North by Northwest and The Man With The Golden Arm. He was a talented graphic designer, who created some of the most iconic logos in history, including the AT&T Death Star.Yesterday, I came across this student project that imagines what Saul Bass would have done if Star Wars had been released two decades earlier.

Threadless finally reprinted a shirt I've been waiting a long time to get, and it went on sale today. When I posted about this a few months ago, we all lamented that they sold out before we could buy them and make them the official T-shirt of our gang, so I'm doing my civic duty and letting everyone know that it's available again. For you damn kids today, this references a movie we all...
