via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on February 08, 2008
With all of the excitement surrounding online social networks like Facebook, MySpace and Bebo, a couple of chinks in the armour are already appearing. Most recently, Mark Zuckerberg appeared on 60 Minutes and said that advertising is the main revenue stream that he foresees for Facebook's success (you can watch the whole interview online here: Facebook: The Entire ‘60 Minutes’ Segment)....

Tales From The Fishbowl - The Top Four Shifts In Media
via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on February 01, 2008
Everybody has multiple customer service complaints. It's human nature to tell and share a story once you feel that you have been wronged. In a Social Media world - where sharing that story with the world is only a Blog post away - the stakes (for most companies) have been raised. One of the main reasons the stakes are so high has very little to do with the actual complaints, comments and Blog...

SPOS #89 - Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast - +1 (206) 666-6056 - Do You Really Think Bloggers Own The Brand?
via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on February 02, 2008
Welcome to episode #89 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. I got some good ranting going on here about whether or not Bloggers (and other Social Media types) really do own the brand? I think we should be celebrated and embraced by corporations, but I worry when Consumers start trying to sell stuff related to the brand and how the companies are reacting. It's all live and...

The Future Of Advertising Today
via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on January 31, 2008
There are still grumblings about Facebook and their Beacon mess. What were they thinking? Did they actually believe that people would enjoy having everything they did tracked and then broadcast to their network? What about their recent foray into Social Advertising? Sebastien Provencher over at the Praized Blog sums it up best in this post: I Am Now A Blockbuster Spokesperson…"Social Ads have...

Respect My Authority - Social Media Analytics
via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on February 20, 2008
If people like Avinash Kaushik are all excited over the notion of Web Analytics 2.0 and getting beyond the "what are they doing" and into cool metrics like sessions, downloads, actions and other telling ways of seeing who's doing what online, then the individual's presence is bound to be next. Technorati now features a ranking called Technorati Authority (it's been live since May...

Yves Behar is a world-leading designer. At TED, he's talking during the How Do We Create? session (this year, the TED Conference is based around the theme of "Big Questions"). In discussing his design process, where he thinks creativity comes from, and where companies are at in their own creativity, this is what he sprung on the TED community:"Advertising is the price companies pay for being...

Marketing Perspectives Courtesy Of TED
via Six Pixels of Separation - Marketing and Communications Insights Blog and Podcast - By Mitch Joel at Twist Image by (author unknown) on March 01, 2008
The TED Conference trashed me. I feel like I went to Monterey, California as an empty bucket, got completely overfilled with water and then someone just dumped me all over the street. I'm drained. There's a slight temptation to mention all the cool and famous people I met, but I think the overall experience of sitting shoulder to shoulder with some of the smartest people I have ever met...
