The Cleverest Idea I've Seen In Years
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on February 10, 2008
This is the cleverest idea I've seen in years (and Apple had nothing to do with it as far as I know): PlayPumps. Kids play and pump water for villages at the same time. Girls benefit in particular because they are usually the ones fetching water. How cool is that?!

Forget the A-List After All
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on January 28, 2008
You’ve got to read “Is the Tipping Point Toast?” by Clive Thompson in FastCompany. The gist of Thompson’s piece, based on the work of Duncan Watts of Yahoo Research, is that the theory that a select few “key influencers” matter more than “the rest of us” when it comes to viral and word-of-mouth marketing campaigns is flawed. Said Watts: “It [achieving marketing success...

Into Thin Air: How I Spent $5,000 on Air and Made Fifty-Year Old Women Swoon
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on February 18, 2008
... Air at Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Day 6: "Accidentally" drop my Brother label printer on my MacBook Pro and crack the screen. View this as a message from God to buy an Air. Day 7: Having read all the specs and reviews about the Air, decide that this "no-compromise" machine has way too many compromises. For example, no Ethernet, no CD/DVD drive, tiny hard disk/solid-state drive (I have fo...

The Art of the Business Card
via How to Change the World by (author unknown) on May 07, 2008
Shared by Selena ooh. i like these. for stacey.A few weeks ago I was in Charlotte to make a speech for Network Solutions, and I meet Justin Ruckman. He handed me his business card--which I just loved. For once, a business card that cuts to the chase and is readable. Hallelujah! So I asked him to make business cards for me. Take a look at your business card: Can people really read the 8 point...

The Art of the Perfect Pint Pour
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on March 05, 2008
You learn something new everyday. For example, I visited the St. James Gate Brewery of Guinness the other day in Dublin, Ireland and learned how to properly pour a point of Guinness. This is where the real production happens. This facility brews roughly three million pints per day. The tourist part of the facility is called the Guinness Storehouse. It is the most popular tourist attraction in...

Pure Evangelism: How to Get Great Candidates
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on March 03, 2008
Any article that starts off by advising you to tell potential employees that working at your company is a stepping stone to great jobs in other companies is okay by me. Penelope Trunk does this in "Memo to Human Resources: New Ways to Get Great Candidates." Her recommendations include: Tell people where they'll go next. No one works at one company forever, so if you can show how a...

Maker Faire: Stuff Geeks Like
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on May 05, 2008
I went to the Maker Faire in San Mateo this weekend. I had no idea these things are so popular--so much so that I gave up the first time and returned in the early evening when there was more parking and a shorter ticket line. Think: Macworld Expo meets Burning Man meets MythBusters meets Woodstock. Here are a mere fifty pictures to show you what you missed. One thing is for sure, the Faire could...
