Indiana Jones IV Trailer Makes Us Wet Our Pants [Indy]
via Gizmodo by Jesus Diaz on February 14, 2008
Here's the trailer for the most anticipated movie of all time, at least for me: Indiana Jones IV. We knew there are going to be aliens and Soviet soldiers led by Kate Blanchett, but one thing is seeing those made of LEGO and the other is to actually see how all looks like. Which is, amazing. Let's hope it is as good as it feels now. And yes, there are no weird mechanical traps and gadgets...

Wired Feature on Deep Sea Cowboys Saving Giant Ships [Geeks]
via Gizmodo by Brian Lam on February 26, 2008
The cargo ship Cougar Ace was entering Alaskan waters when its ballast tanks malfunctioned and a wave turned it on its side. Millions of dollars in shiny new Mazdas were dangling feet from the cold water. Then the A-Team of sea salvage (including a geek) flipped it right side up without the help of cranes or tugs. My good friend Josh Davis wrote this breathtaking feature on the small group of...

Escalator Ads Are the Most Awkward Way to Advertise [Badvertising]
via Gizmodo by Adam Frucci on February 14, 2008
Here's a creepy way to advertise a hair salon: stick the lower half of some guys face at the bottom of an escalator, and place various hairstyles on the stairs. As the escalator moves, said guy gets a new haircut with every stair that passes by. Creative? Yes, definitely. Unsettling? Oh hell yes. It's at a mall in Mumbai, so it's not like I'm going to be forced to see it anytime...

via Gizmodo by Adam Frucci on February 14, 2008
So you want to sleep at work. I can't say that's the brightest idea in the world, but who am I to judge? Let me help you out: if you want to sleep at your desk and also look really, really creepy while awake, all you need to do is buy some of these eye stickers. Slap 'em on your closed eyelids, learn to sleep sitting up, and you'll be sure to fool everyone who walks by your desk....

Audiophile Deathmatch: Monster Cables vs. a Coat Hanger [Monster Cables]
via Gizmodo by matt buchanan on March 03, 2008
Whether or not Monster Cables are worth it is a war that has raged since home theater immemorial. A poster at Audioholics was put in a room with five fellow audiophiles, and a Martin Logan SL-3 speaker set at 75Db at 1000KHz playing a mix of "smooth, trio, easy listening jazz" that no one had heard before. In one corner, Monster 1000 speaker cables. In the other, four coat hangers twisted and...

Belgian Students Break Mento-and-Coke World Record [Coke And Mentos]
via Gizmodo by Addy Dugdale on April 25, 2008
Here's what you do when you're a student in the Belgian town of Leuven. You don a blue plastic poncho alongside 1,499 undergraduates, all standing in line at very long table, on which is placed a bottle of Diet Coke and a Mento. On the count of three, having raised your hood, you drop the mint in the plastic bottle, and 1,500 fountains of sticky drink erupt simultaneously. More pics...

But of course, there are limitations thanks to label tightassness, the biggest point of suck being that you can only listen to a song three times. What's sort of shady is that they wouldn't discuss how they track how many times you've listened to a t...
