An inventive cover version of Radiohead's Nude played by the following instruments: Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, Epson dot matrix printer, HP Scanjet scanner, and an array of hard drives. Skip ahead to 1:08 if you can't wait through the opening. This isn't the correct technological time period to be steampunk. Bitpunk anyone? (via waxy) (link)

The average U.S. citizen completely ignores the regularity with which the automobile kills him, maims him, embroils him with the law and provides mobile shelter for rakes intent on seducing his daughters. He takes it into his garage as fondly as an Arab leading a prize mare into his tent. He woos it with Simoniz, Prestone, Ethyl and rich lubricants -- and goes broke trading it in on something...

Augmented Reality with Flash
via Psyked by James on June 04, 2008
... - FLARToolKit (FLash Augmented Reality ToolKit)Your webcam, little bit of Papervision, the FLARToolKit, and you’re off. It’s similar technology to that which powers “Eye of Judgement”, and is pretty cool. If you’ve got a webcam go and scribble a large black box onto a bit of paper and test it out.Kudos to Make me pulse and Games Alfresco for finding the link in the first place!

iPhone Apps Worth Jailbreaking For [IPhone]
via Lifehacker by (author unknown) on June 02, 2008
Shared by Bwana Well done overview by Lifehacker. This is a definite read if you're on the fence about jailbreaking.By this time next week, major iPhone announcements will probably make jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod touch unnecessary to run third-party applications—but right now you can get some killer features on your device by unlocking it the unofficial way. We're all excited...

Video: Dean Kamen demos “Luke” arm
via CrunchGear by Peter Ha on May 29, 2008
If you’ve seen footage of Kamen’s “Luke” robotic arm then chances are you probably don’t need to watch this, but if you haven’t then by all means. We won’t see a commercial deployment in the next few months, but it’s in the works, says Kamen. This thing is pretty darn cool. One of the fellas in the video hasn’t fed himself in over 13 years! Kudos to you, Dean.

aTV: plug and play Apple TV hacking
via The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) by Mat Lu on May 22, 2008
Filed under: Hacks, Apple TVIf you have an Apple TV and are interested in some of the exciting things you can do by hacking it (e.g. adding additional video codec support like divx, etc.) but have been too chicken to try it yourself, you may be interested in the aTV Flash from Apple Core. Basically the aTV Flash is a patchstick -- a USB flash drive preloaded with software to modify the Apple TV...

Amazon Web Services Eat a Lot of Bits
via ProgrammableWeb by John Musser on May 20, 2008
Amazon made headlines back in January when they announced that their Amazon Web Services APIs like S3 and EC2 consumed more bandwidth than their own global web sites. Well, now over in an interesting, short post at the AWS blog, Amazon’s Jeff Barr posted the following chart used by CEO Jeff Bezos that clearly highlights this impact.Share This

Dino Run
via Jay is Games by zxo on May 05, 2008
The fine folks at Pixeljam have really managed to outdo themselves this time, bringing us an outlandishly retro, high stakes, mad multiplayer dash for survival called Dino Run. Although there are three modes of play, the idea is basically the same: run as fast as you can!

CrunchArcade: Get Lamp: An upcoming text adventure documentary
via CrunchGear by John Biggs on March 27, 2008
After watching King of Kong a few weeks ago I’m really enjoying this gaming movie trend. This new film by documentarian Jason Scott is all about text adventure games and the people who made and loved them. If you’ve ever stared at wonder at a PC telling you about a world that doesn’t exist in clear prose and whimsical detail, this is a movie for you. All you kiddies and your WoW would do...
