Mile-high London tower reminds us of that song about bridges
via DVICE by S.E. Kramer on March 02, 2008
Popular Architecture designed this mile-high "eco-friendly" tower to be located in East London (not to be confused with this mile-high building designed for the Middle East). The London tower would stand 500 stories tall and house over 100,000 people, in addition to having room for schools, hospitals and stores. The building is also peppered with 20-story high "holes," public spaces containing...

Shower tech: a 5-headed spinning shower head
via DVICE by Travis Hudson on February 26, 2008
Shower technology is definitely an area that has been neglected over the years. It includes an outer, stationary ring that has 32 of the tiny shower spouts. On the inside the five head spin at 120 revolutions per minute that provide a massaging...

The Cleverest Idea I've Seen In Years
via How to Change the World by GuyKawasaki on February 09, 2008
This is the cleverest idea I've seen in years (and Apple had nothing to do with it as far as I know): PlayPumps. Kids play and pump water for villages at the same time. Girls benefit in particular because they are usually the ones fetching water. How cool is that?!

Applying Unix Philosophy to Personal Productivity [Feature]
via Lifehacker by Gina Trapani on January 27, 2008
Reprogramming your personal work flow with a productivity system is a lot like programming computer software: given a stream of incoming information and tasks, you set up holding spaces and logical rules for turning it all into action. Like software that automates activities, good productivity systems take the thinking out of what to do with incoming data, and make it a no-brainer to turn...
