So Chic, le dessert le plus chic et le plus rapide de la terre !
via La popotte de Manue by Manue popotte on January 23, 2008

Connecting people?
via Planet GNOME by Karl Lattimer on February 13, 2008
This is a quick post just to say, I’ll be joining Nokia on the 23rd of March. If I’ve ignored anyones emails, sms etc… the last few days that’s because I’ve been rather busy. There is one thing that people out there can help me with though. I require a virtual server to host svn, trac, and wordpress on for the wine-doors project, and also my blog.If you can help me out with this I’d...

Role-based access control in SELinux (developerWorks)
via LWN.net by corbet on February 13, 2008
IBM developerWorks is carrying an article by security hacker Serge Hallyn on how to set up role-based access control using SELinux. "Different users using the same /bin/register program are able to read and write different files that they cannot access without the program. This is one of the core concepts of type enforcement: both the authorized context of the user and the code being executed...

via Planet Python by (author unknown) on February 14, 2008
I've gone through this great blender animation tutorial. It's really well made, and teaches you blender from the beginning - explaining everything as you go.It was a "Blender summer of documentation" project where someone spent a whole month working on it. It was also based on an older tutorial which was itself really good There's a downloadable PDF version (180ish pages) if you...

Play.com Open DRM-free Music Store
via Planet GNOME by Jono Bacon on February 14, 2008
Big, big kudos to play.com for opening their DRM free music store. I have not bought any music from them yet, but have bought bags of DVDs, games and albums from them. Great to see them getting in on the digital downloads game, and great to see DRM not used. All in all, I am pretty happy, and they have a nice meaty metal collection too.

DBus-using Library Design
via Planet GNOME by Ross Burton on February 17, 2008
As a rule of thumb, when writing a library which uses DBus pleasealways make asynchronous DBus method calls. You never know when someone will write a system using your library which, via a series of plugins, ends up calling itself. A single main loop and blocking DBus calls are not a great combination, and leads to lots of frustration. Yes, libnotify, I'm looking...

Big changes
via Planet GNOME by Richard Hughes on February 17, 2008
Today I resigned from my graduate hardware engineer position at BAE Systems. In a little over one months time I will be starting at Red Hat UK, with Jonathan Blandford as my boss. I'll primarily be working on laptop support issues, but with a bit of time spent on PackageKit and other cool stuff. This is a great opportunity for me, and I'm really looking forward to solving new problems....
