Day With No News -- brilliant BBC news-footage remix
via Boing Boing by Cory Doctorow on May 14, 2008
... has remixed a bunch of BBC news-footage in which the anchors, having signed off, just look at one another with relief and sit silently waiting for the fade-out, calling the result, "The Day There Was No News." The effect is nothing short of wonderful.Mr Jalopy adds, "Somehow, this silent newscast is more eerie than normal boombastic version of the days events."Link (Thanks, Mr Jalopy!)

Kortfattat: När man bör använda AJAX
via Purrito by (author unknown) on May 15, 2008

via thomashawk.com by (author unknown) on May 15, 2008
File this under more irrational reactionary police action against photographers. One of my Flickr friends, Hal Bergman, emailed me today to tell me about a recent run in he had with the FBI after photographing the Port of Los Angeles.According to Bergman, he and a buddy were taking photos at the Port of Los Angeles when they were confronted by a security guard who told them that they could not...

via Bo Hedin om SvD.se by nobody@svd.se (Bo Hedin) on May 14, 2008

via Mindpark by joakim on May 14, 2008

TUAW Faceoff: Screencasting
via The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) by Brett Terpstra on May 14, 2008
Filed under: Software, Features, TUAW FaceoffScreencasting -- the not-so-ancient art of recording the computer screen for the entertainment and enrichment of others -- has evolved into quite a Hydra of options. How do the myriad gladiators in this arena stack up? I've tried everything I could find that could record a little movement on the screen, and selected 8 contenders for the matchup....
