The Great Blog Weeding of 2008
via WinExtra by Steven Hodson on June 15, 2008
It’s coming folks. It is inevitable.Just as the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening it is coming. It is the event that over a period of time; which I believe has already started, when blogs – both big and small will fall by the wayside. We see this happen on a regular basis but it is nothing like what we will see over the next year. The type of die off we normally see is those...

Why Disqus Is Winning the Web Comment Battles, and What's Next
via louisgray.com by louisgray on June 15, 2008
Tonight, I was lucky enough to have dinner with Daniel Ha, the CEO and co-founder of Disqus. One of the advantages of being in the Silicon Valley is that in many cases, I can actually engage with and meet the people who are moving the industry forward, and while I don't consider myself a big-league hob-nobber, the occasional social visit can be rewarding. I won't jeopardize future...

FriendFeed Wish List
via tadSpot by Tad on June 13, 2008
... if the threshold only looks at your friends’ negative karma points or whatever. Currently though, this isn’t a big problem.Let us set up new FF views - how about a tab that only shows threads with X or more Likes and X or more Comments? I don’t want to lose the ability to see everything, but I’d like a way to occasionally dial down the noise. That’s enough for now. Thanks guys!Tad

FriendFeed Greasemonkey Scripts Round Two. Smaller Tabs, More Choices
via The Inquisitr by (author unknown) on June 07, 2008
Shared by Franklin P This is awesome. Tried about 8 of them. These are very cool. The response to yesterdays release of a range of greasemonkey scripts to add tabs to FriendFeed has been great. Not everyone gets the appeal, and I fully get that (it’s not for everyone), but others do, and already it has delivered for me personally what I set out for it to do: make certain pages more easily...

CA Internet Security Uninstall Error W9011
via The KnightKnetwork by David on June 06, 2008
Image by lloydi via FlickrCA Internet security and I haven’t gotten along very well in the past and my attempts to get rid of it were just a continuation of the same problems. Previously I had had problems getting a Removed by HIPS FW error on webpages and that led to me researching the efw file problem that so many people were having. Well, the next and hopefully final problem I’ve had is...

FriendFeed Gets Personal and More Manageable
via SheGeeks by Corvida on June 06, 2008
Last night, FriendFeed quietly released another cool feature: personalized recommendations. You know how Benjamin Golub created the FriendFeed Shared Items filter using RSSmeme? If you haven’t, the filter tracks the most shared items within your FriendFeed network? Personalized recommendations is an expansion on that same concept. So, instead of seeing what the most popular shared items are,...

FriendFeed
via Scobleizer -- Tech geek blogger by Robert Scoble on June 06, 2008
People are telling me that I hype up FriendFeed too much. So instead of praising the latest features I’ll just let Mike Arrington of TechCrunch praise them.

Patrick graduates to high school
via Scobleizer -- Tech geek blogger by Robert Scoble on June 06, 2008
Today I’ll be attending Patrick’s graduation from Jr. High. Damn, can’t believe he’s going to high school. When I graduated from Jr. High? The hot technology? A floppy disk drive for your Apple II. I remember my dad being so happy that he got a 64kb memory card, too. That’s kilobytes, not gigabytes.I’m so proud of Patrick who is one hell of a great kid. Count your lucky stars. Two...

All Dogs Go To Heaven. For Molly, It Took 18+ Years.
via louisgray.com by louisgray on June 06, 2008
At 3 o'clock this afternoon, Kristine and I entered the local veterinarian's office with our 18-plus year old beagle Molly, who has been a member of our family, and a constant companion to my wife for more than a dozen years. A little over an hour later, the two of us emerged, and Molly was gone. After three bouts with cancer, the loss of a toe, innumerable odd moles and tumors here and...
