Is that a big number? - Wikipedia edition
via The Undercover Economist by Tim Harford on May 13, 2008
Clay Shirky reports on a conversation with a TV producer, after describing a flurry of activity on the Pluto page:She heard this story and she shook her head and said, “Where do people find the time?” That was her question. And I just kind of snapped. And I said, “No one who works in TV gets to ask that question. You know where the time comes from. It comes from the cognitive surplus...

Archiving TV… the old fashion way
via Long Views by Alexander Rose on May 07, 2008
This is a wonderful find by the “America Found: A Snapshot History” blog. It is someone’s snap shots they took of their TV as one of the Apollo missions took place. I am not sure what it is, but there is something lovely about taking pictures of your television to document an important moment. Pre VCR, pre DVD, pre TiVo but still captures the essence of the broadcast.

With the vast bulk of our news coming online now, it's worth taking a second to look at the way mainstream media markets drama. You know and I know that they're doing...

A 70-year-old's Take on GTA IV [Old Man And The GTA]
via Kotaku by (author unknown) on May 07, 2008
Shared by Snowmit Oddly touchingMy Dad has been visiting since late last month and his arrival happened to have coincided with the arrival of another important thing in my life (these days): Grand Theft Auto IV. Dad was, at one time in his life, quite a gamer. He introduced me to the glory of Donkey Kong on the TRS-80 (or was it the CoCo), looking as delighted as I was when he first loaded the...
