FREE 2GB iPod Shuffle from Compass Bank
via Wise Bread by Paul Michael on June 05, 2008
By Paul MichaelKey Bank clearly did very well from their iPod promotion, because Compass Bank is now running almost the exact same deal. With Compass though it's a very cool 2GB iPod Shuffle, and it's free to new customers. There are a few stipulations (aren't there always?) but they're reasonable. Here's the lowdown on the deal:Update: MOST IMPORTANT (thanks Bloggrrl): You...

Embedded LED Pong table
via Hack a Day by Juan Aguilar on May 27, 2008
There are few things that are enduring and axiomatic in life, but one of the things on our short list is love of Pong. Designer [Moritz Waldemeyer] apparently shares our obsession: you may remember the LED-lined stage uniforms he designed for OK Go, but this concept for a Pong table is certainly older and arguably several times more awesome. The Corian table was commissioned in 2006 by DuPont....

Using your favourite text editor to edit textareas in Firefox
via Planet CentOS by Karanbir Singh on March 09, 2008
... cut and paste that content into the editor - then when you are done, select-all from the editor and paste that into the textarea. You could do this by hand, but its quite a pain. In most cases it then boils down to which kind of pain you want to suffer. The lack of a decent editor built into firefox, or the copy + paste pain of moving content between apps. The best medium would be if there wa...

Google Calendar Sync for Microsoft Outlook
via Google Operating System by Ionut Alex Chitu on March 04, 2008
One of the most popular requests for Google Calendar was synchronization with mobile devices and Outlook. After launching a sync tool for Blackberries, Google Calendar now offers a small utility for synchronizing events with Outlook. By default the synchronization is bi-directional, but you can change this when you install the utility or from the options dialog. The only significant drawback is...

A Feed for Unread Gmail Messages
via Google Operating System by Ionut Alex Chitu on March 02, 2008
Gmail has a very cool feature not available in other webmail applications: feeds for unread messages. For example, the feed http://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom/ shows the most recent unread items from your inbox. Gmail also offers feeds for your labels: http://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom/labelname/, but it would be nice to have a comprehensive listing of all the unread messages, not just the...

A Russian Ad for Gmail
via Google Operating System by Ionut Alex Chitu on February 21, 2008
This incredibly beautiful video is an ad created by Saatchi & Saatchi Moscow to promote Gmail in Russia. As Google Translate doesn't have speech recognition, I would be grateful if someone translates the message of Gmail's ad. From what I understand, the ad illustrates the human side of Gmail by recreating it in real life.{ Thank you, Maksym and Kristaps. }

Chat With Your Site's Visitors Using Google Talk
via Google Operating System by Ionut Alex Chitu on February 25, 2008
Google Talk's gadget was a nice addition, but you couldn't use it to chat with unknown people or with the visitors of the site, like in Meebo Me. Now you can do that using the new chatback badges. You only need to add some code to your site and anyone could click on the generated badge to chat with you."A Google Talk chatback badge allows others to chat with you even if they haven't...
