Ice Shelf Collapse Leaves Nowhere to Store Ice Books
via News As Gossip by julius on March 25, 2008
A giant ice shelf collapsed in Antarctica, posing a real problem for those who had planned to use it to hold their ice books and ice trophies. Scientists say it's yet another sign of global warming (oh really? Gee thanks, scientists. You think?) and the loss is permanent, unless someone has a really giant ice tray they can stick in a really giant refrigerator to make more. Climatologists...

Starred to Shared in Reader.
via massless by Chris Wetherell on March 24, 2008
From to A couple of years ago we made an option in Reader to share tags. Back then, there wasn't yet a dedicated page to shared items, or a "Share" button, or services aggregating shared items. e.g. FriendFeed, Linkriver, RSSMeme, Readburner [about to re-launch]Things are certainly different now. It's past time for me to use starring for a different non-public purpose. So this'll be...

Mail Trends
via persistent.info by Mihai Parparita on March 24, 2008
I get a lot of email (especially at work). I'm trying a Inbox Zero-like approach in order to keep up with it. Though that's helping me to stay on top of things, I had the nagging feeling that I was probably on too many mailing lists, and that some of them were probably not worth it from a signal-to-noise ratio perspective.Ideally something like the Reader Trends or Search History Trends...

via John Battelle's Searchblog by (author unknown) on March 24, 2008
Outside Lands announced its lineup (it announced its headliners earlier) and ....wow. They added Beck, Wilco, Broken Social Scene, Ben Harper, Manu Chao, and tons of others to an already amazing list. I'll be there!

The Future of the Movie Trailer
via CinemaTech by Scott Kirsner on March 07, 2008
An impromptu dinner at SXSW last night brought together an interesting group, including Arin Crumley ('Four Eyed Monsters'), Lance Weiler ('Head Trauma'), Brian Chirls, and producer and Filmmaker Magazine editor Scott Macaulay. One topic we talked about over barbecue at the Iron Works was movie trailers: is it time to retire the idea of the trailer? Or just radically revamp it?...

xssinterface and Google Gears
via techno.blog("Dion") by dion on March 02, 2008
I mentioned the cross domain library, xssinterface, created by Malte Ubl on Ajaxian the other day.His library abstracts on top of postMessage() and browser hacks to give you cross domain work. No sooner than I say “It would be nice if the library used cross domain workers if Gears is installed.” than Melde comments “Thanks for the hint to google gears. It is now implemented in trunk :)”....
