Public speaking versus blogging
via blog.pmarca.com by Marc Andreessen on May 14, 2008
... call it a day. Or, you could shortcut the process by simply giving an interview to the reporter and letting him mangle what you said directly. These days, you have the option of staying home, blogging in your underwear, and not having your words mangled. I think I like the direction things are headed. Mid-year resolution #1: No more public speaking. Mid-year resolution #2: More blogging.

Online Video for the Very Young
via ReadWriteWeb by Josh Catone on May 13, 2008
It's no secret that YouTube's age demographics skew young, but young still means 18-34, and much of the content on the site would be inappropriate for children under the age of 13 -- the COPPA cut off age that YouTube adheres to as the minimum allowed for anyone to sign up on the site. Totlol is a new video site that launched in beta this week aimed at children aged 6 months to 6 years. ...

No New APIs?
via It's Just a Bunch of Stuff That Happens by Eric Burke on May 13, 2008
Java 6u10 is not called Java 7. Because of this name — and the rules associated with JDK update releases — no new APIs can be added. But is this really the full story? For example, with 6u10, you can create translucent and shaped windows. However to really leverage this feature, you need to use the AWTUtilities class. What’s that? The translucent and shaped windows feature is available...

via Gizmodo by Adrian Covert on May 12, 2008
According to Portfolio, Apple and HBO will team up to offer HBO original programming on iTunes in the next couple of weeks, and HBO may receive variable pricing and/or a higher profit percentage for its shows than other content providers. This is huge, not only because it marks HBO's first big move into the online media market, but also because they've managed to strong arm a notoriously...
