Facebook as a quick and dirty corporate collaboration tool. It Depends.
via Churbuck.com by (author unknown) on May 15, 2008
Shared by Charlie I've always thought Facebook, or something similar, would be a good collaboration tool within a corporation. The trick isn't just allowing it within the firewall, it's setting it up in a way that allows the individual to be part of the outer world as needed and the internal world without trade secrets getting out. Setting up an internal network to me is pointless...

All Things Cahill - Shark Jumping?
via Churbuck.com by David Churbuck on May 14, 2008
All Things Cahill » Blog Archive » Social Media - Shark Jumping?Jeremiah’s Tweet that Avenue A has trademarked “social influence marketing” prompted me to ask rhetorically if the shark had been jumped. My good buddy Mark Cahill posted:“What I am finding is that most of the people I am finding in my general circle on Twitter are social media types. That’s to say, folks that attend a...

Gilligan's web
via Rough Type: Nicholas Carr's Blog by (author unknown) on May 14, 2008
Despite the party-pooperism of the Deletionists, the true glory of Wikipedia continues to lie in the obscure, the arcane, and the ephemeral. Nowhere else will you find such painstakingly detailed explications of TV shows, video games, cartoons, obsolete software languages, Canadian train stations, and the workings of machines that exist only in science fiction. When I recently felt an unexpected...

To Hell With Michigan
via The Rock Report by The Rock on May 09, 2008
Come on Michigan fans, know you're own damn history. Wolverine fans across the country are having a collective pantie bunch over Charlie Weis's stump speech that ended with a seeming low blow at "that team up north."Here's what Charlie said, "And then we'll listen to Michigan have all their excuses as they come running in and saying how they have a new coaching staff and...

Comments Aren't Rocket Science
via Recovering Journalist by (author unknown) on May 08, 2008
Shared by Charlie I just wonder when these folks are going to get it.I've said it before and I'll say it again (and again): Managing comments on newspaper Web sites isn't exactly rocket science. But newspapers seem to keep thinking that it is.Today's hapless example: The Day, of New London, Conn., which turned on comments and discovered that, HORRORS, contributors were posting...

The noise reduction system
via Scobleizer -- Tech geek blogger by Robert Scoble on May 08, 2008
David Risley this morning wrote about all the noise in all these systems like Twitter and FriendFeed. Of course that kicked off a whole discussion over on FriendFeed.Oh, the glorious noise! Everyone loves beating me up for causing the noise. No, I am not the cause. I pass it along. You should see my inbound streams. Every second or two a new Twitter is aimed at me. Every few seconds, a new blog...
