NASA's New Lunar Rover in Action
via Slashdot by CmdrTaco on March 26, 2008
holy_calamity writes "New Scientist has video of Nasa's new Chariot lunar rover in action on simulated moon surface in Houston. As the associated story explains, the two-ton "truck" has a top speed of 20km/hour and is currently fitted with a plough, with additional back hoe and drill attachments to come. Sure it's not glamorous — more of a lunar tractor — but sure looks handy for...

Mikael Hallendal: GTK+ 3.0, enabling incrementalism
via Planet Jabber by Mikael Hallendal on March 12, 2008
This is a reply to some comments on Kris blog post about our vision of GTK+ 3.0.First off, as I said in my reply there, I think it’s important that we do not make GTK+ 3.0 into a holy grail of all the features we would like to see in GTK+. via Slashdot by kdawson on March 12, 2008
jerryasher recommends Paul Krugman's blog at the NYTimes, where he introduces a paper he wrote, The Theory of Interstellar Trade, with tongue very much in cheek. Some packrat academician was kind enough to send him a scan, because "back then academics did their work with typewriters, abacuses, and stone axes." Abstract: This paper extends interplanetary trade theory to an interstellar...
