California City
via Google Sightseeing by Rob on February 18, 2008
Way out in the Mojave Desert lies California City. With an estimated 2007 population of little more than 12,500, the name suggests a hope for much more than it ever became. Nevertheless, the city’s area is a massive 203.6 square miles, which actually makes it the 34th largest city by area in the United States!1In 1958, property developer Nat Mendelsohn had his eyes on this patch of desert with...

Fred Wilson vs. Michael Arrington, the 140-character version [Nerdfight]
via Valleywag by Owen Thomas on February 18, 2008
Venture capitalist Fred Wilson has lashed out at TechCrunch over its coverage of some startup you've never heard of. TechCrunch editor Michael Arrington responded by accusing Wilson of being biased. I'd summarize the whole spat for you, but Wilson's and Arrington's Twitters have done the job already.

Augenaufkleber helfen beim Büroschlaf
via Fontblog by Jürgen on February 18, 2008
(Via)

I will Get That Nobel Peace Prize Yet!
via The Dilbert Blog by Scott_Adams on February 15, 2008
Before you say “Someone already did your idea,” I should point out that no one has done it quite the way I’m describing it. What I’d like to see is a pen pal web site designed to end war. The idea would be to connect citizens in different countries at such a high rate it would be politically impossible for the two countries to start a war.You might support your government in a war against...

The posture of a communicator
via Seth's Blog by Seth Godin on February 15, 2008
... don't learn what I'm teaching, I've let you down. It's really easy to insist that people read the friggin manual. It's really easy to blame the user/student/prospect/customer for not trying hard, for being too stupid to get it or for not caring enough to pay attention. Sometimes (often) that might even be a valid complaint. But it's not helpful. What's helpful is ...
