Short hair = Bad economy
via Japanator by (author unknown) on February 19, 2008
As of lately, women everywhere around Japan have been cutting their hair short. This is extremely bad for many reasons. For one women look a lot better with long hair, that’s a given, and another is that short hair means the economy is heading toward a slump. When women wear their hair long, it tends to mean the economy is doing good, but when cut short it means it’s doing bad; I’m not making this up!
Who is making this up is Kao, Japan’s second-largest cosmetics firm. For twenty years, Kao has been surveying its clients, paying close attention to their customers’ hair length and Japan’s economy. Before the economic bubble burst in the 1990’s 60 percent of women in their twenties had long hair. After, short hair became prominent until 2002 when long hair regained its dominance. For the record, short hair is defined as anything above the collarbone.
This might not be as crazy as it sounds. There is a thing out there that has been in existence ever since their has been human society. It is called zeitgeist and is basically the spirit of the era. It explains why sometimes a huge amount of horror movies come out for unexplained reasons or why mecha becomes popular once again without motivation. Maybe the female hair length in Japan is a sort of a zeitgeist that explains the economy. However, if we convince all the women in Japan to grow their hair long, maybe we can improve the economy. Did you think of that Japan?!
