SystemRescueCd is a Linux system available from a bootable CDROMthat provides an easy way to perform administrative tasks on yourcomputer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard diskor backing up data. It contains a lot of system utilities (such asparted, partimage, and fstools), and basic programs (such as editors,midnight commander, and network tools). It also includes GParted, aPartition Magic clone that makes editing partitions easy with itsgraphical user interface. This CDROM aims to be very easy to use andaccessible to everybody, and it also provides advanced personalizationfeatures.

The kernels were updated to Linux-2.6.23.14 (asthe default) and 2.6.22.16 (as the alternativekernel) with Reiser4. The kernel was patched witha fix for the sis190 network driver. The buildfiles were updated to catalyst-2.0.5 andgenkernel-3.4.9. gparted was patched to prevent acrash. The iproute2 package was fixed (/sbin/ipwas not installed) and the lvm2 initscript wasbroken. Two boot options (dodebug and lowmem) wereadded. Proprietary ATI and nVidia drivers wereadded for XOrg. ksh and tcsh shells, pbzip2-1.0.2(Parallel bzip2), lzma-utils-4.32.2, andmount-cifs were added.Shared by:
