Are you part of a social media clique? Why or why not?
via notes, thoughts, ideas and responses by Julian Baldwin on May 12, 2008
Louis Gray discussed one of the underlying principles of social media - clique formations. He talks about how the clique of bloggers you interact with will change over time in response to behavior of the individuals forming the group. Maybe they stop writing, their personal interests evolve or there is miscommunication. The last point I hit on in this video and say make sure you know the person is done before drawing conclusions. He/she may have had a busy week or two and need time to deal with other areas of life.
How long does someone stop writing before you dismember them from your clique?
In the video I say I am not part of a clique or looking to be. That doesn’t mean I won’t link to the same sources over and over as long as they’re good, it means I don’t want to focus on only a few people and miss out on other great conversations.
Are you part of a social media clique? Why or why not? Has it helped move you to the next level or were you shutting out other people?
