Combining Filters With RSSmeme
via Soliloquio by Evaristo on May 11, 2008
Combining RSSmeme's filters is the best way to obtain the most relevant information. You can obtain a feed that only contains the items that meet all your requirements.
"All you have to do is tack on some parameters to a URL and RSSmeme will filter the correct data."
Here are two examples of how to combine RSSmeme's filters:
1. Feed URL for stories published on this blog, with at least 5 shares, sorted by the number of shares:
http://www.rssmeme.com/api/?output=atom&order_by=-feed_count&source=20497&feeds_gte=52. Feed URL for stories that were published on TechCrunch, tagged 'google', with at least 10 shares, sorted by the date published:
http://www.rssmeme.com/api/?order_by=-pub_date&tag=google&source=11&feeds_gte=10&output=atomThe complete list of supported parameters is available in RSSmeme's API Documentation.
So basically, you add a filter to your feed by tacking any of these parameters to the feed ULR and you can combine as many filters as you want. That is how you can have total control over RSSmeme's filters to obtain specific items in your feeds. Use RSSmeme's API to manage the quality of the stories in your subscriptions and doing so avoid information overload.
It seems that RSSmeme didn't include the User filter in this version of the API. I'm sure this feature is coming soon, but in the mean time you can still use this rudimentary alternative.
